~Pendle Hill~
2nd March 2010
New month, a fine day and at 16:30 I'm off to see Pendle Hill, snow still in place and the vague posibility of a sunset....
The Tree
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk
The Front
I parked on the roadside next to the tree. Realistically there was no chance of a sunset as the leading edge of a weather front had progressed from the west and was slowly heading for Yorkshire. All pretty harmless, but not what the photographer was looking for.
The Path
Through the gate, up the steps and then off to the right for the steep ascent of Pendle Hill.
The Stile
The Distant Mountain
Pen-y-Ghent in full zoom (12x). Sometimes I can pick out Malham Cove, but the light was rather poor and I couldn't find it.
The Snow
Snow has been on Pendle Hill since December 17th, I've told the council, but they've run out of grit.
Pendle Summit
Looking west; a little further round the compass I could just about make out some Lakeland fells, the zoomed photo was not good enough to merit inclusion on this site.
